How long does an MOT take?
The test itself usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. If you are dropping the car off for the day, or combining the MOT with a service, allow longer. Book a slot online or call 020 7586 3580 and we will tell you when to collect it.
How early can I get my MOT done?
You can have your MOT up to a month (minus a day) before your current certificate runs out and still keep the same renewal date. For example, if it expires on 15 May, the earliest you can test and keep that date is 16 April. Check your expiry date on GOV.UK.
What happens if my car fails its MOT?
We show you exactly what failed and why, then quote for the repairs. Under DVSA rules, if you leave the car with us to repair and it is partially retested within 10 working days, there is no retest fee. You cannot drive a car with a dangerous defect.
What is the difference between an MOT and a service?
An MOT is a legal safety and emissions check – it confirms the car met the minimum standard on the day. A service is maintenance: fresh oil, filters and checks that keep the car reliable. They do different jobs, and many drivers book both together to save a trip.
